SIBLEY SOILWORKS TAKES ROOT

SIBLEY SOILWORKS TAKES ROOT

Dec 21, 2016 | G.R.O.W Harrisburg, Sibley Soilworks, Teaching Gardens

It’s a holly, jolly Christmas … and in more ways than you might think. For urban farmers and growers in Augusta, the gift of compost is more precious than gold.

Enter this season’s Santa – David Young – founder of the Hobby Farmers of the CSRA.  As of this week, he has successfully spearheaded and launched “Sibley Soilworks,” a community composting pilot program along the Augusta Canal. In the last several days, he and a small team of hardcore volunteers – Phil, Henry, Ryan, Hannah and Kim – built a simple, beautifully practical fence that will house this community composting program in the neighborhood of Harrisburg.

Yes, we’re building a Food Oasis in Augusta. Yes, we’re Growing ouR Own Wellness.  Yes, we need your help!  To get involved as a volunteer in the next Sibley Soilworks volunteer day, contact David Young.
