When kids come to learn at Icebox Urban Farm, we start with the name:

“What does icebox mean?”

“Well, icebox is an old-fashioned word for refrigerator,” we explain.

“And what does urban mean?”

“Urban means city … it’s the opposite of rural, which means ‘country,’ where most farms are located,” we say.

“So that means this place is ‘Refrigerator City Farm?'”

Yep, pretty much:)

We’ll be wrapping up our Spring 2017 school visits in May and starting to plan for next school year!  If you’d like to schedule a hands-on, science-based educational visit for your classroom or home school group in Fall 2017, please contact Tasha!
