Amy became involved with Augusta Locally Grown several years ago while
searching for clean, wholesome food. Her interactions with farmers and gardeners through this organization prompt many culinary experiences that center on mindfulness and gratitude. When she is not working at the market to provide you with the freshest ingredients for your own recipes, you will find her in the kitchen with her favorite cookbooks.
Candace is the owner and operator of Bottle Tree Farm, an urban farm situated on 0.43 of an acre in Augusta, GA. She began her farming journey with a few raised garden beds, but with the generous help of her husband, she has added more beds, fruits, chickens, honey bees, and rabbits to her menagerie. She loves to show that one doesn’t have to live on acreage or outside the city limits to farm. When she isn’t farming, she loves to crochet and upcycle estate sale and thrift store finds into yard art and handmade cards.
As a veteran and an advocate for wounded warriors, one of my passions is to connect military families with the resources that they need. Often times, what that looks like is different than what we think that looks like, especially when it comes to healthy food and hunger needs in our community. I try to give voice to the voiceless.
My mom is my inspiration. She taught us girls to feed the soil with every natural resource that came her way. It would be decades before I appreciated her genius. It applies to everything, from food to kids to community. Love you Mama!
If you look up food enthusiast in the dictionary, you'll find a picture of Patrick Sutter. As someone who appreciates having the best quality meats available, Patrick feels very fortunate to have relationships with some of the best meat producing farmers in the CSRA. He has a deep and abiding respect for all of our local growers.
I had very little interest in cooking until I was in my late 20's, but then by my 30's, was pretty obsessed. I have cared for a long time about knowing where my food comes from and that led me to ALG as a customer when I moved to Augusta in 2011. I have been Downtown Market Manager since early 2015 and most days you will find me tending my sourdough starter, making bread or granola or mayonnaise or pie or the tacking the next great recipe that I have found. I have traveled a decent amount and love trying new food and sharing recipes.
Living in Atlanta, tending a small community garden at the condo complex. We grow veggies, flowers, berries, and herbs. Super excited about my first Fall/Winter garden! Good food and drink is a big part of my life-- enjoying the growing, preparing, and sharing of food... what a way to enhance life!
I teach yoga at Georgia Tech, and currently working toward becoming a registered yoga teacher. Also big into music-- listening and playing. Strumming my mom's old guitar, experimenting with recording and digital production, and lately playing around with electronic instruments. And I really enjoy traveling-- far far away, or just a day to a nearby place. Walking is my favorite way of getting around, either exploring in cities or deep in nature.
