WE DIG FAITH-BASED COMMUNITY GARDENS

WE DIG FAITH-BASED COMMUNITY GARDENS

Jan 2, 2019 | Front Page - What We Do

St. Luke United Methodist Church, located in the neighborhood of Augusta, was the first faith based community to invite us in to help them grow a community garden. That was back in 2012, seven years ago now. Since that day, the garden has taken many forms, from a place for families to learn to cook from scratch, to a gardening & cooking camp for youth. Today it is a beautifully vibrant center of learning and activity for the students of Westabou Montessori School, housed at St Luke UMC.

Faith based communities bring a level of commitment to their gardens that can be transformational for all involved.  But getting a garden started can be daunting. As such, in the year 2019, we will co-host a “Food, Faith and Philanthropy Forum” to bring good-food know-how and faith-based missions closer together.
